Overview

Between Coffee and Faith: A Legacy Led by Women

On the rolling hills of Boa Esperança, Minas Gerais, lies Cava Estate Farm—a place where coffee is more than a crop; it’s a calling. Here, Flávia Aparecida Cardoso Oliveira carries forward a legacy her parents began in the 1990s, shaping a farm rooted in integrity, resilience, and deep respect for the land.

Flávia grew up among coffee trees, learning the rhythms of planting and harvest alongside her parents and brother. Even as a child, she understood that every hand mattered. Those early days taught her perseverance—an unshakeable belief that effort, patience, and care always leave their mark.

Women at the Heart of the Farm

As a woman in agriculture, Flávia faced challenges familiar to many—but she met them with strength and sensitivity. With the support of her family and husband Renato, she built her name on honesty and dedication, guided by a simple truth: your name is everything, and it’s earned through the way you work.

Cava Estate today is run exclusively by women, a powerful statement reflected in every decision made on the farm—from nurturing the coffee plants to caring for the animals that share the land. It’s a place where tradition and progress move together.

A Coffee Shared Across Generations

Flávia’s greatest pride is her daughter Beatriz, who already shares her mother’s love for the farm. Together, they tend the coffee and animals side by side, strengthening a bond that carries hope for the future. That shared commitment was recognised when Flávia earned 2nd place in a regional coffee competition—an achievement she describes as honouring her family’s legacy and the faith that guides her work.

In the Cup

This Red Catuaí micro lot, grown at 980 meters, is refined and expressive. Expect notes of caramel and honey layered with delicate florals, a velvety mouthfeel, balanced citric acidity, and a lingering sweet finish. It’s a coffee that reflects the care, patience, and belief poured into every stage of its journey.

Why We Chose This Coffee

For International Women’s Day, rijo42 is proud to showcase a coffee that tells a story of women leading, nurturing, and excelling—on their own terms. This micro lot is not just about exceptional flavour; it’s about recognising the women behind the harvest and the legacy they are building, one cup at a time.
