Many of us can’t get through the day without our daily caffeine fix with millions of us visiting coffee shops on a daily basis. Thanks to a new scheme, you now have the chance to do your good deed for the day whilst purchasing your morning espresso, cappuccino or latte.
Would you buy a coffee for someone in need? A Suspended Coffee is a cup of coffee paid for in advance as an anonymous act of charity. The Suspended Coffee Scheme is a simple yet effective one, relying solely on goodwill. How does it work? Well, when purchasing a coffee at a participating cafe, you also pay for a second, which can then be redeemed by someone unable to afford it for themselves.
The tradition originated in Italy where the goodwill gesture ‘caffe sospeso’ (suspended coffee) is thought to be over 100 years old. The scheme has spread through Europe over recent years and there is an ever increasing number of participating cafes throughout the UK.
