Here’s a figure that might surprise you. Did you know that 4.7 million people in the UK have diabetes, of which around a million people are undiagnosed? Of those millions of people, 90 per cent have type 2 diabetes which prevents them from using their body’s natural insulin properly.
A number of factors determine whether or not you’re at risk from type 2 diabetes, including age, genetic predisposition, diet and lifestyle. While none of us can do anything about our genetic heritage or our age, we can take control of our diet and lifestyle. That doesn’t mean denying yourself completely, it means making small changes which will add up to a bigger result, such as cutting down on sugar. For years sufferers were told to cut out certain foods, including all types of sugar, but now leading UK health organisation Diabetes UK says that modern thinking is to make healthy choices the majority of the time and have treats occasionally.
With that in mind, we’re delighted to introduce our new lower sugar drinking chocolate, packed with an intense chocolately taste – just with less sugar. In fact, there’s 50 per cent less sugar than other comparable drinks, and it also contains higher cocoa content for that rich, chocolately hit.
Changing to products such as our new lower sugar chocolate offers you choice if you are considering reducing sugar in your diet whilst ensuring you can still enjoy a delicious cup of hot chocolate.
World Diabetes Day 2019 is on 14 November, helping to promote awareness of the disease, so if you’d like to be able to offer a lower sugar alternative in your café, restaurant or office then please get in touch with us on 03333 344 8042 and we’d be delighted to help.
