Jack Johnstone’s Quest To Raise £6000.00

Jack Johnstone is an inspirational six-year-old from Hoghton who, together with his family, is on a quest to raise £6000.00 and rijo42 want to help.

Jack suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. The genetic condition affects his lungs which, in a recent emergency stay in hospital, were found to have deteriorated significantly. Jack was rushed to A&E after turning blue with breathing difficulties and doctors informed his parents that his condition is unfortunately getting worse. The condition means Jack finds it difficult to clear mucus build-ups, making it hard for him to breathe.

Jack is admitted to hospital every 10 weeks where he stays for a fortnight each time for intense courses of physiotherapy. The lengthy and frequent hospital visits are traumatic for Jack who misses his friends and little sister tremendously. His quality of life has reduced, as has his life expectancy, leaving Jack determined to raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis.

Jack’s family are doing everything in their power to improve his quality of life. They are aiming to raise £3000.00 to purchase a cyclotherapy bed for Jack. This specialist bed vibrates the body, assisting in breaking up the mucus to make breathing easier. They are hoping to raise a further £3000.00 to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust who have provided great support to Jack.

The family are asking for donations of prizes which can be raffled or auctioned at their fund-raising event on 22nd February.

rijo42 Accounts Manager, Lesley, was touched after reading Jack’s story and suggested that as a company, we do something to help. We were more than happy to assist and donated a rijo42 Uno Coffee Machine Gift Pack to be auctioned on the evening. We hope it will raise a good amount to help Jack and his family towards their goal.
