Winter is our busiest time at rijo42, the cold weather goes hand in hand with increased coffee sales for our customers, and we install a vast amount of commercial coffee machines over the colder months to meet this demand. Winter is also one of our favourite seasons for the events it brings with it, Halloween, Bonfire Night and of course, Christmas.
We always like to get into the spirit of an occasion, and Halloween is no different. We’ve held a pumpkin carving competition for the last three years running and to date the service department have always prevailed.
In previous years we have picked another member of staff to model our pumpkins upon, however this year there was no theme, it was open forum. We’re a competitive bunch and all departments of the company took part. There were some fantastic creations entered into the running for best rijo42 pumpkin 2013. First and second place were, once again, awarded to members of our Service Team. Head of Logistics, Sarah Welsby took the top spot with her ‘batty 4 rijo’ masterpiece, pictured below.
Workshop Manager, Simon Caple came runner up with his Spiderman inspired pumpkin.
Other entries included a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle courtesy of Paul Ali in our Ingredients Department, a Frankenstein masterpiece from Sales Manager, Sean Griffin and a Superman themed pumpkin from Account Manager, James Iddon. These all featured amongst more traditional and not-so traditional Jack-O-Lantern designs.
It was great fun as always, and we’re looking forward to another department stealing the crown from Service next year. Ingredients Manager, Ben West has already got his thinking cap on…
